Demand for apple ot changes things up.

Growing up, I cherished my independence and the trust that comes with it. It's a crucial part of maturing and learning to take responsibility for my actions. Unfortunately, even as someone who is nearly grown, I still find myself held back by parental controls on my devices. As a teen over the age of 13, it's disheartening to see Apple allowing parents to enforce Downtime and Screen Time settings that limit my autonomy.

Apple, a pioneer in technology and user experience, should recognize the importance of personal growth and trust in teenagers. The ability to manage our own time and learn self-discipline is critical in preparing for adulthood. Since we live in a digital age, where screens play an essential role in education, communication, and social interaction, completely restricting access can hinder development and create unnecessary conflicts within families.

The influence of these settings can also inadvertently impact education if access to educational materials and resources is blocked during set downtime. With students heavily relying on digital platforms for learning, even after school hours, retaining the ability to control our access empowers us to make informed decisions about our priorities and use of time.

Recent studies have shown that teens who are granted a sense of trust and responsibility tend to develop better decision-making skills and are more prepared for adult life. By adjusting these settings, Apple would not only respect us as maturing individuals but also contribute positively to our development in this digital era.

I urge Apple to review and revise its policies regarding Downtime and Screen Time controls, allowing teens aged 14 and up to have more freedom on their devices.
