#Stop Tree cutting for signal free corridor Old airport road

Subject : Regarding cutting of trees for signal free corridor on Old Airport Road

Dear Friends,

We the residents of Vinayakanagar/K.R. Gardens write this note to call your attention towards tree cutting that is happening on old airport road for the sake of signal free corridor project. We reached the concerned officials in this regard and we were told that total of only 52 trees are going to be cut (18 at ISRO junction, 16 on HAL junction and 18 at Kundalahalli junction). However, 37 trees on ISRO junction are already cut, whereas 60 more are marked on HAL junction for cutting.

These are fully grown very old trees. We request you to save these trees at any cost. If such tree cutting continues, clouds that form over Bengaluru will never split or burst due to lack of cool atmosphere and the density of clouds will never result in rain. Already Bangalore is facing water scarcity in recent past.

Such a tree massacre adds more damage than relief. So, unless we find a way to manufacture rains, trees are our only life savers to attract rains.

Our previous experience with signal-free corridors have not yielded any favorable results with respect to traffic congestion problem and one more such corridor will only add to those failed attempts, hence we perceive this as a short term solution for which ever lasting damage is being done to our Bangalore.

Hence, I request everyone to sign in this petition to stop the Tree massacre at the earliest.

Hi All,
sorry for the delayed update.
In a thread with the previous update, we have handed over the signed petition to the Tree officer and got the acknowledgment. More than that, the higher officials from the forest department has visited the spot & inspected the trees. They have assured that " No more trees will be axed for the Signal free corridor project". http://epaper.newindianexpress.com/1328423/The-New-Indian-Express-Bangalore/22-AUG-2017#page/2/1
