Petition to remove Coach Wendell Smith from Cape Fear High School Staff

Coach Smith's actions while employed by the Cumberland County School Board as a head coach have concerned many members of our community, both parent, player and alumni. His unprofessionalism has been witnessed by numerous people who feel he is not welcome at Cape Fear High School. He has taken an 18-2 JV team from two years ago being coached by Terry Jefferies and turned it into 4-7 team with his lack of ability to communicate and motivate his players on top of poor coaching decisions. Some athletes under the coaching of Wendell Smith have suffered both emotional and physical stress from both his vulgar language to the way he belittles his players when he's dissatisfied. This has caused some students to want to end their high school athletic careers. Coach Smith constantly tears his players down and punishes by pubilicly humililating them in front of their peers and famliy. We  have always known Cape Fear High School and the Cumberland County School board to have student athlete's well being and best interest at heart. We appreciate any help from them in resolving this problem.
