Campaign for Referendum on Irish Bank Debt
The EU/ECB/IMF deal for ireland is unfair, condemns Ireland to bankruptcy and threatens the future of the EU and the EURO. It represents a "bailout" for bondholers at the expense of the Irish taxpayer. We demand that any further payments to the failed banks be subject to a referendum.
On March 24th the leaders of the EU meet to discuss the debt crisis. We need to send our Taoiseach to that meeting with a strong message from the people that they demand justice and hope for ireland.
We, the undersigned, request that a national referendum be held on the payment of Irish banking debt.
We believe that there should be no further repayment of existing investments nor any further investment in the failed banks until a fair and equitable scheme for bank debt resolution has been agreed with the EU and approved by the Irish people by way of a referendum.
Sincerely,
