Gold Dancer, a 7-year-old horse, was nearing the finish line for a horserace in the UK, he broke his back when jumping over the final fence. Despite this horrifically painful injury, the horse still managed to cross the finish line first, winning the entire race.
That's not a good thing. That shows he was trained to ignore his own brutal pain. Then, he was euthanized to put him out of his misery.
Horseracing is cruel to animals and all too frequently results in injury, suffering, and death. Horses - like any other animal - are living, breathing, sentient beings. They feel pain and pleasure, and have likes and dislikes. But then we hold them captive and push them to their - in this case literal - breaking points. Horses did not consent to be used in this way.
