End Amateurism in College Athletics

For years, the NCAA (a not for profit organization) has
thrived on the marketing of their “student athletes,” who
have not received a single penny of the fortune that has
been made on their name. The NCAA makes all of their
athletes sign a paper upon arrival, committing to
amateurism, meaning they can not make any money off of
anything related to their sport. The fact that this
organization is exploiting the players, and barring them
from making money on things such as endorsements,
autographs, etc. is unfair to the players who have worked
countless hours to make a name for themselves. The NCAA should remove this amateur tag from the requirements within college athletics, allowing the student-athletes the ability to prosper off of their own hard work and dedication.
