Does your vote even count?

It has come to our attention that there is a high likelihood that a single person has unfairly prioritized their individual interests ahead of those of the Class of 2016, and has unilaterally made decisions contrary to those mandated by the majority of students. The most fundamental rights of our country rest in the fact that we are a democracy. Regardless of whether it is a US Presidential election, a local School Board election, or a student government election, all democracies must respect the will of the majority- zealously protecting against all-powerful centralized governments or individuals. Elections in democracies cannot be facades that a single party can hide behind, they must be authentic competitions for the support of the majority of the people.

While we acknowledge the school has the right to "qualify" or disqualify" participants before an election, absolutely NO one individual has the right to unilaterally overturn the results of the election, dismissing the will of the majority because he or she feels they know better than the rest of us.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, hereby demand a new set of uncensored speeches from all candidates and new elections, monitored and counted by an independent group of students and members of the administration immediately.
