Muskie Protection and Management in the Kentucky River System

The Kentucky river system has a historic muskie fishery that has generations of family's pursuing them on the historic river.
As the fishery stands it could only get better with conservation and management. We the fisherman of the Kentucky river system are asking that ,
1. Muskie size limit be bumped up to 36 inches state wide for streams same as the lake limit.

2. No harvest March to April : to protect spawning fish that are snagged in spillways and feeder creeks. Legally caught fish must be released immediately, muskies reproduction is low and stocking efforts have been suffering due to the economy and poor survival rates at the hatchery.
Muskies have been seen spawning in all the major tributaries of the river system many of which are never stocked.. Some of the most noticeable spawning waters lie in the upper reaches of the river system in Perry, Leslie, Clay, Owsley, Breathitt, Powell, Wolfe counties.

3. look at increasing stocking numbers in the lower pools. And researching the possibility of a trophy fishery in some of the pools on the middle and lower stretches of the Kentucky  river system.

4. Look into recreating Buckhorn lake on the Ky River system as a trophy fishery that it once was by increasing the size limit to 48inches and increasing stocking numbers
