Trump has built a platform on destroying his base's belief in the media – FAKE NEWS! – the result being his base will only trust HIM on all topics. It's the Church of Trump and his Twitter account is the Scripture.
Except that social media platform giants like Twitter and Facebook have the protected right to remove hate speech, lies, and other information they don't want on their platform. The "Scripture" is autonomous…when it chooses to be.
Tell Twitter and Facebook to REMOVE Trump's fake, doctored videos. Misinformation and lies are harmful, and social media must take responsibility.
Case in point: Trump recently complaining about fake news in a tweet, while sharing a video supposedly combating fake news…that includes a seeming-CNN video that actually IS FAKE NEWS because it's been dramatically altered. Twitter flagged it as "manipulated media" – but they do the brave thing and take it down.
Twitter and Facebook have not taken responsibility for the extreme damage they have helped sow in our country, the divisiveness they have contributed to, the outright lies they have helped spread. We're demanding they do now.
