People with Mental Health Issues AREN'T getting what they NEED

School is a hot spot for depression and anxiety especially in middle and high school. I know because I that's what happened to me. In 8th grade I was sent to a short term facility for a week because of depression. I went twice in my 9th grade year. I am concerned because I know what it's like to feel alone and helpless, but I go the support I needed from family, friends, and even some of the nurses at the facility. I think there shouldn't just be "counselors," because they sit in an office all day doing computer work, calling teachers and parents, and do paper work.. If they interacted with students it would be better. I sure as heck never went to the counselor at school. I think we need to keep the counselors at the schools that are already there were they are at but add new ones who walk around and talk to the students. For example: they could talk to them at lunch. I think there should also be a class on just suicide protection and prevention and how to cope with depression and anxiety.
