He Left 17 Cats Alone to Die, Locked In His Old Home After He Moved Away

A man in Wisconsin accumulated 17 cats in his home - and then left them behind, alone. The man had lived with his cats up until June 2025. Then, he moved to live with his girlfriend, and began commuting between the residences to give the cats food and water. This semi-abandoned treatment continued for months, until the end of November 2025 - when he stopped going entirely.

By the time authorities arrived, 16 of the cats were dead, and the last one was missing.

The man claimed that he had sustained an injury to his ankle, so he was unable to travel back to his previous home to take care of the cats. According to him, he asked another person to help instead - but investigators say there's no evidence this is true.

Either way, the cats ended up being alone for so long that all the water in their bowls was gone, and the floors of the home were entirely covered in feces. The animals appear to have likely dehydrated to death.

Authorities have arrested the man and charged him with 48 counts of animal abuse. But it's important that this man is never allowed around animals again. Even the simple fact of leaving the cats so neglected for 5 months, before he fully abandoned them, should be enough for authorities to intervene.

We must demand a full and permanent ban on this man living with, owning, or working with animals again in the future! Sign the petition!
