Don't Let Jim Inhofe Head the Senate Environmental Committee

Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe has declared his intention of re-taking his seat as the head of the Environment and Public Works Committee now that Republicans have regained the majority in the Senate.

We urge the Republican leadership from preventing such an appointment. Senator Inhofe has no interest in the environment whatsoever, actually voting against environmental protections at almost every turn.

Appointing Inhofe is not only dangerous to the earth, but also the Republicans' reputation. At a time when the vast majority of scientists (and Americans) understand the threat of climate change is real, the Republicans will look even more out of touch by making their most notorious climate change denier their leader on environmental policy.
