As Mindy Rackley and her fiancée Kendall Brown were evaluating where they wanted to hold their wedding rehearsal dinner, one option emerged as the frontrunner: Madison's Cafe in O'Fallon, Missouri.
Everything seemed fine, until the wife of Madison's Cafe's owner called Brown with "some questions".
In Brown's own words, this is what happened next:
"She said, 'your spouse is a woman?'
I said, 'yes.'
She said, 'I am sorry we are going to refer you to someone else because we don't condone that kind of relationship.'"
"Out of love for you, we're going to have to decline your business because we believe you're in an unhealthy relationship."
Discrimination based on sexual orientation is totally UNACCEPTABLE, and we want to send a message to Madison Cafe and all other establishments that we won't let this stand. Will you sign our petition pledging to never visit ANY establishment with bigoted views?
