Support a Progressive NAFTA agenda

A historic renegotiation of NAFTA, the largest North American trade deal, is happening right now. Representatives of Canada, the United States and Mexico are gathered to decide the new terms of trade on this continent.

This is a huge opportunity for leaders to take a strong, progressive stance. While trade agreements have historically been an opportunity to give more power to corporations, we have the opportunity to let governments know that these huge deals must also serve their citizens.

We must pressure the three countries to adopt better environmental protection standards, stronger labour laws, especially in regards to gender equality, living wages and workplace standards and consultation with Indigenous peoples all over this continent.

By focusing on these progressive points, NAFTA would better serve all three countries in creating fairer, healthier and more just places.
