Demand Fresh, Clean Air in Outdoor Stores!

You might not think that buying a pair of sneakers or a fishing rod would be hazardous to your health. But a recent report by Greenpeace suggests that the air in outdoor stores might be worse for shoppers than living near an industrial smoke stack.

Greenpeace found dangerous poly-fluorinated chemicals (PFCs) inside stores selling outdoor gear in East Asia and Europe. PFCs are a serious problem because they have been linked to loss of immune function, liver and pancreas damage, and developmental problems.

Please join me in asking the European Parliament to independently investigate PFCs in outdoor stores and take action to regulate air quality in these stores as needed.

Dear Parliamentarians:

I'm sure you have heard from somewhere that PFCs are not good for people. Through studies on animals, they have been linked to liver and pancreas damage, loss of immune health, and developmental delays. And yet a recent report suggests that many of your indoor stores are toxic with this chemical. You need to take action to protect people from damaging chemicals when they shop for running shoes or fishing gear. Please independently investigate PFCs in outdoor stores and take action to regulate air quality in these stores as needed.
