small hometown iowa. you would think in smaller communities it is easier to have your voice heard. we are facing the destruction of the 2nd(?) oldest functional courthouse in iowa. a historic venue, a pride of the community.being asked to vote on the approval of a 6.5 million dollar bond towards the construction of a new courthouse , without (i might add) the estimate on the cost of restoration of said building at all. public tours were scheduled to educate the public about why the supervisors were pushing for this destruction of historic building instead of restoring exhisting one. but those were cancelled , day of, while the public were waiting for said tour.without explanation. and further actions of our elected officials seem to be lacking the interest of our public. from closed sessions to scare tactics to further what seems to be their own personal causes. we want to save our courthouse and preserve a piece of our local iowa history.
