Keep Protections for Migrating Woodland Caribou

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering removing protections of the Woodland caribou from the Endangered Species Act- promted by the anti-environment law firm, Pacific Legal Foundation, along with Bonners County and the Idaho State Snowmobile Association.

When Sarah Palin had the wolf delisted from the Endangered Species Act, she had  Idaho Governor "Butch" Otters full support for the of killing wolves, in order to protect caribou. Both Governor Palin and Governor Otter began killing wolves before they were legally delisted.

The rationalization was this;

"Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can't be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations," Sarah Palin said in a statement. "Our predator-control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife."

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service has waged war on wolves, big cats and bears to (supposedly) protect Woodland Caribou- now they have changed their minds and find are not significant and therefore not worthy of protection. This outrageous decision was prompted by Idaho State Snowmobile Association.

We ask President Barack Obama to stop playing games with America's wildlife and keep protections for woodland caribou in the United States. Healthy ecosystems need all the species that survive there- not more snowmobiles.
