BAN FIREWORKS IN SOUTH AFRICA

In this most beautiful country of South Africa, with one of the most highly regarded Constitutions in the world, some concerned South Africans question why some laws are more important than others. Some laws are applied and policed more than others. I am referring in particular to the laws regarding the sale and use of fireworks.  Another Christmas and New Year season has passed and once again fireworks have been sold to every other adult and child, regardless of age, for their personal use, without any control at all. How many animals have once again been scared witless, running terrified out into the street and getting lost, sometimes even losing their lives in jumping over fences and being impaled on the fence, dying a long, painful and horrific death? Or running senselessly in front of oncoming traffic, causing death to themselves and the passengers of the vehicles? How many more children must be burnt by fireworks, being maimed and scarred for life whilst being allowed to handle these same fireworks by irresponsible parents. How many more homes must be burnt to the ground by fireworks before someone does something about this problem? HOW CAN OUR POLICE BE EVERYWERE TO CONTROL THE USE OF THESE FIREWORKS.

Would the answer not be TO BAN THE SALE OF FIREWORKS ALL TOGETHER? If the sale of drugs and contraband can be controlled, why can the sale of fireworks not be controlled.  Stop the sale of fireworks completely! It is an absolute waste of money in a county where there is so much poverty.
