END THE BUTTS - BAN FILTERED CIGARETTES

It's time to say goodbye to filtered cigarettes.

This isn't about banning smoking. This is about a return to the original, UNfiltered cigarette. It's an easy solution that will have a HUGE positive impact on so many health and environmental problems!

Some things to consider:
1. The filter does NOT reduce the toxicity of smoking cigarettes (actually does the opposite). (National Cancer Institute, 2001). The filter serves NO practical purpose yet it is arguably the most toxic and destructive component of a tobacco cigarette.

2. The environment is suffering. Filters are NOT biodegradable, they are plastic made from cellulose acetate. They contain benzene, mercury, lead, arsenic, and vinyl chloride among dozens of other chemicals that cause cancer and other health problems in all forms of life.

3. Smokers cost tax payers billions; the destructive habits of a minority should no longer be permitted to erode the economic and environmental sustainability of our planet and its creatures.

4. Littering laws don’t work and are too hard to enforce. Smokers continue to disregard the law by tossing butts out of car windows and by using beaches, sidewalks, and parks as personal ashtrays.

The time is now. BAN THE PRODUCTION, SALE, DISTRIBUTION, AND IMPORTATION OF FILTERED CIGARETTES. Thank you for being part of the solution!
