Multiple prisons in both Ohio and Michigan have recently been found with food and serving equipment covered with live maggots. The prisons in question include the Ohio Reformatory for Women at Marysville, which houses most female inmates in the state, and Trumbull Correctional Institute, a facility for low-risk inmates. All of the facilities in question contract with Aramark Correctional Services.
Live maggots were found "falling out of a warming tray" at Trumbull, and in a turkey roll that was being sliced for an evening meal at Marysville. They were also found in potatoes served to inmates in Michigan prisons that contract with Aramark.
Inmates are in prison to learn from their mistakes. They don't need to live in luxury, but it is cruel to feed them contaminated, disgusting food that could make them ill. Please sign the petition to urge Ohio and Michigan's prison governers to end their contracts with Aramark!
