Tell Congress to Reject New Antiabortion Measures
In January 2012, House Republicans proposed three new bills that would restrict women's access to abortion.
HR 3802 would require impose a mandatory 24-hour waiting period before women have access to abortion procedures. Another bill, HR 3805, would require doctors to perform ultrasounds and show them to women before providing abortion care. A third bill, HR 3803, seeks to ban abortion after 20 weeks of gestation in Washington, D.C.
All three bills, if passed, would interfere with a woman's right to choose and put undue stress on women who are already faced with an intensely personal medical and emotional decision. Act now to tell Congress to trust women to make their own choices by rejecting all three bills.
We the undersigned urge you to reject HR 3802, HR 3803, and HR 3805, three recently proposed bills that would restrict women's access to abortion.
The bills--which call for a 24-hour waiting period before women have access to abortion procedures, for doctors show ultrasounds to women before providing abortion care, and for a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of gestation in Washington, D.C.--all interfere with a woman's right to choose.
We urge you to trust women with this intensely personal medical and emotional decision and to reject all three bills. Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.
