STOP MINING IN UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK AND SAVE WILDLIFE

The hills of Karbi Anglong, which are prime elephant habitat, and part of the Kaziranga – Karbi Anglong Elephant Reserve, have been destroyed by the unscientific and illegal stone quarrying / mining and stone crushing activities. As per the report of National Tiger Conservation Authority the stone mining/ quarrying and stone crushers established in the intervening area between Kaziranga and Karbi Anglong hills are responsible for destruction of wildlife corridors and vital wildlife habitat which is essential for long ranging species like Indian elephant and tigers. Divisional Forest Officer, Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Bokakhat / Director, Kaziranga National Park / Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Bokakhat in their report to the state government has recommended for the closure of the unscientific and illegal stone quarrying / mining and stone crushing activities for the safety and future survival of the Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve (A UNESCO World Heritage Site). Hope we pass on the blessings of Mother Nature on the planet to our future generation by protecting Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve. More than 60 illegal stone quarries are in operation at Karbi Anglong hills, adjoining the national park, threatening the landscape, and thus, the very survival of the national park.
