Cleaning the planet of plastic

Every minute, an amount of garbage equal to a whole garbage truck is dumped into the ocean. Plastic does not disappear; it breaks down into microparticles that enter the soil, water, and our food. Marine animals and birds die by the thousands, ingesting or becoming entangled in debris. We are literally turning the planet into a massive garbage dump that cannot be cleaned.

The myth that all plastic can be recycled is only beneficial to corporations. In reality, less than 10% of all plastic produced is recycled. The rest rots for centuries in landfills or floats in the ocean. The only real way to stop this disaster is to stop producing this waste.

Our demands:
We demand from world leaders and corporations (such as Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Nestle):
​Ban on disposable plastic: Stop the production of bags, straws and extra packaging immediately.
​Eco-packaging: Oblige companies to switch to 100% biodegradable materials that do not harm the environment.
​Financial responsibility: Introduce huge taxes for companies for every ton of plastic waste they create. This money should go to cleaning the oceans.
