A Viral Video Shows Two Dogs Allegedly Being Abused in a Cage

A video that went viral appears to show a woman abusing two dogs inside a cage. It was filmed about a year ago, and when it resurfaced online, police in Waterbury, Connecticut, stepped in. Officers checked on the dogs and found both of them happy and healthy, with no signs of abuse or neglect. The woman no longer has custody of either dog. The best way to protect the next animal is to get her real help and keep her from ever being in charge of one again.

Sign the petition urging the Waterbury Judicial District State's Attorney's Office to pursue a lifetime ban on animal ownership and mandatory mental health counseling in this case.

She now faces a felony charge of malicious or intentional cruelty to animals. But a charge alone can't answer the question the video leaves behind, which is how someone ends up hurting a defenseless animal in the first place. Hurting a dog in a cage is not what a healthy, supported person does, and it suggests she needs real help. Mandatory mental health counseling would give her a chance to face whatever is driving this behavior and to change, so it does not happen again.

A lifetime ban on owning or caring for animals would make sure no other animal is ever left in her hands. These two dogs got out and recovered. The next animal may not be so lucky.

Sign the petition and demand the Waterbury Judicial District State's Attorney's Office pursue a lifetime ban and mandatory counseling in this case.
