End Radon Related Lung Cancer in Calvert County Now

Protect yourself and your family.  Learn how and test your home for radon.

Demand the Board of County Commissioners protect Calvert County citizens by enacting a home sales radon testing ordinance.

-Radon is an invisible, odorless gas to which exposure has been shown to increase risk of lung cancer.


-Over 1 in 3 homes in Calvert County have radon levels that the US Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action to reduce.


-Radon is easily detected with an inexpensive ($20) do it yourself test kit that can be obtained locally at a hardware store.


-Radon levels can be reliably reduced by a professionally installed, moderately priced ($800-$2000), active removal system.


-Home sales in MD require disclosure of radon levels if known by the seller.


-Requiring a simple radon test prior to home sales will save lives, reduce lung cancers, and reduce medical costs in Calvert County by improving awareness and reduction of the radon hazard.
