STOP Surry carriages in the Bahamas, NOW!!!

    Invisible
Do you see me in the line? Head down. I don’t look up because my spirit has been broken by submission
    I shuffle forward – invisible.
The carriage shifts. People pile in and the circle begins again.
As I struggle through traffic, car horns blaze behind me. Don’t they know that I can’t go any faster? I annoy the humans in their cars and trucks. I’m afraid of the noises.
Exhaust fumes choke me and sting my eyes. I’m so tired and broken, so hungry and weak. Please let it end.
My load is heavy. My legs are lame. I long for cool shade. The heat is unbearable. I’m exhausted, thirsty and hungry. Cruel ropes cut into my face and mouth. Something metal, so thin and worn, is hanging from my hoof. There is only one – my other hoofs are bare so I can’t walk properly… but no one sees.
A familiar place ahead - minutes of shade and perhaps a sip of water but it will be gone all too soon. The humans say that money can’t be made if I am to be given rest so the carriage fills again. Many people pile in – too heavy for me to pull. The humans don’t care ---- to them, I am a thing. I AM INVISIBLE.
I “disappear” over-the-hill after the cruise ships have left. My “home” has no comforts --- nowhere to lie; no escape from the heat; no proper food; no care for my lame legs or help for my pain.
I’M ALIVE. I CAN FEEL. I am hungry. I am in pain. My spirit is broken. I long for human kindness, yet I remain invisible.
I AM A SURREY HORSE. My tomorrows are all the same. Please help me.
