California: Ban the Dangerous Insecticide That Scott Pruitt Refuses To

  • al: Kevin Mathews
  • destinatario: Matthew Rodriguez, California Secretary for Environmental Protection

Federal EPA head Scott Pruitt has decided to allow 40,000 American farms to continue to use a chemical known as chlorpyrifos after the Obama administration previously called for a ban.

Research pointed to this insecticide's danger to humans (previously the chemical has been blocked for household use), yet Pruitt feels it's not conclusive enough to take into account.

Therefore, we take this issue to the California Environmental Protection Agency instead. Please follow the scientific findings and recommendations of the federal agency.

Banning chlorpyrifos in California not only helps protects the state's farmers and nearby children, but it sends a clear sign to the rest of the country that this state cares about science. As the U.S.'s agricultural center, California should lead by example in how safe farming should be conducted.

We ask that Matthew Rodriguez lead his agency in getting rid of chlorpyrifos in California.
