Dear McDonald's,
I really hope you consider bringing back the classic PlayPlaces.
McDonald's has always been more than just a restaurant for families. Yes, adults go to McDonald's without children, but for many parents, one of the biggest reasons to choose McDonald's is because it gives their children somewhere to eat, play, and burn off some energy.
That is what made McDonald's special.
When the restaurants started being remodeled to look more modern and almost like an office or coffee shop, something important was lost. A restaurant that is primarily known as a family-friendly place should actually feel like a place for families and children.
I am much more likely to take my children to a McDonald's that has a PlayPlace. If there is no PlayPlace, I am less likely to choose McDonald's because part of the experience is missing.
The magic of going to McDonald's with kids was being able to get their Happy Meal, let them eat, and then watch them run, climb, slide, laugh, and burn off some of that energy before we leave. Parents got a chance to sit down for a few minutes while the kids played. It made the whole experience enjoyable for everyone.
I'm not asking McDonald's to literally bring back everything exactly as it was. Keep the modern safety standards and make the equipment safer and cleaner than ever. But please bring back the colorful, exciting, nostalgic PlayPlace experience that made McDonald's feel like a destination for families.
Make McDonald's feel like McDonald's again.
A PlayPlace isn't just a playground. For families, it is part of the reason to choose McDonald's in the first place.
Please bring it back.
