Stop the Sale of Endangered Sharks in U.S. Markets

A disturbing new study has revealed that endangered sharks are being sold – often unknowingly – to consumers across the United States. DNA testing found that nearly one-third of shark meat products sampled came from endangered or critically endangered species, including hammerheads and shortfin makos. Even worse, 93% of products were simply labeled "shark," concealing the true species from buyers.

Sign the petition to demand immediate action from the FDA and NOAA to ban the sale of endangered shark species and crack down on misleading labeling!

Sharks are not only vital for healthy oceans – regulating entire ecosystems as apex predators – but they are also at grave risk. Populations have already fallen by more than 70% since the 1970s, driven by overfishing, finning, habitat loss, and pollution.

Weak enforcement and loopholes are allowing their continued exploitation right here in the U.S. On top of that, these products often contain dangerous toxins like mercury and arsenic, posing risks to consumers as well.

Sign the petition to urge regulators to stop the sale of endangered sharks, strengthen labeling laws, and enforce international protections.
