Give Indigenous Children Equality for Canada's 150th Birthday!

Last year, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal ruled in favor of indigenous children. The ruling acknowledged that children on reserves receive a lower level of welfare services.

The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society celebrated the ruling at first, believing things would improve for their children. But a year has passed, and little has changed.

According to First Nations Child and Family Caring Society representative Cindy Blackstock, the government only set aside $16 million toward addressing the inequalities in welfare services. The amount needed to offset the difference, though, is $216 million.

Please sign the petition to urge Canada to stand by their promise to treat indigenous children equally and address welfare service discrepancies this year!

I am concerned that Canada has not followed through on last year's ruling that children on aboriginal reserves receive a lower level of welfare services than children elsewhere.

According to First Nations Child and Family Caring Society representative Cindy Blackstock, the government only set aside $16 million toward addressing the inequalities in welfare services. The amount needed to offset the difference, though, is $216 million.

I respectfully urge you to stand by your promise to treat indigenous children equally and address welfare service discrepancies this year. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this petition.
