UK: Don't Make Building in National Parks Easier!

  • al: Kristi Arnold

Officials from the UK's National Park Authorities are outraged that the government is ignoring objections to its proposal to developing housing in the countryside in western England. Under the proposal, developers will be able to convert or replace farm buildings such as barns in any location without first getting the approval of the local authority.

Park authorities across the country are upset by planning minister Nick Boles' plans, which Dr Nigel Stone, chief executive of Exmoor National Park Authority claimed “effectively takes us back to what could become an uncontrolled piecemeal development across all rural areas of England”, according to the Exeter Express and Echo.

A spokesman for England’s national parks referred to the collective fears of rural planners around the country. “Valleys full of fields dotted with stone field barns could be transformed into a semi-urban environment with roads and overhead power and phone lines,” he said.

Tell Nick Boles you won't stand for allowing easy building in National Parks!

Dear Sir,

We the undersigned believe you should not allow easy building on our National Parks land. Officials from the UK's National Park Authorities are outraged that the government is ignoring objections to its proposal to developing housing in the countryside in western England. Under the proposal, developers will be able to convert or replace farm buildings such as barns in any location without first getting the approval of the local authority.
