With their shocking decision to gut Section II of the Voting Rights Act and open the door for Republicans to strip Black voters of their political power across the South, the Supreme Court sent an alarmingly clear message: they will not stand in the way of the GOP's crusade to establish a white supremacist, one-party state.
Dominated as it is by corrupt right-wing extremists who sit squarely in the pockets of billionaires, the Supreme Court has rubber-stamped everything that the far-right has put in front of them, including immunity for Donald Trump for his many crimes, repealing Roe v. Wade, exonerating companies for profiting off slavery, and every anti-worker, pro-corporation, pro-white nationalist issue you could possibly think of.
Tell Congress to take action and expand the Supreme Court!
When President Biden was in the White House, we saw startlingly different behavior from the high court. Nearly everything Biden tried to do to help the American people was deemed illegal or unconstitutional. We have every reason to believe the radical, right-wing supermajority will do the same the next time Democrats win back the White House.
We cannot allow this state of affairs to continue. Every right we hold dear, everything we've fought so long and hard for will continue to be torn up and thrown in the trash by far-right, activist justices. With the stroke of a pen, they effectively just turned the clock back on American civil rights by 60 years. Enough is enough.
We must expand the Supreme Court and add more liberal justices at our first opportunity. Our democracy is at stake.
