20 years ago 14-year-old Reena Virk, was swarmed, beaten and drowned.Reena's young life was tragically cut short as a victim of bullying.
In honor of her memory by virtue of her sacrificed life & as a reminder of the serious ramifications of bullying, let us commit to non violence & build a bridge of hope & greater understanding.
Countless incidences of harassment, threats, violence, cyber-bullying, suicides, happen every single day & remain hidden in the dark. Let us take this important opportunity to shed light.
The proposed renaming will effectively act as a spotlight of awareness & a reminder to how far we have come & yet still how much farther we need to go in crossing that bridge to eradicate bullying.
We, the undersigned, petition for a renaming of the Craigflower Bridge to the Reena Virk Memorial Bridge. A bridge of hope, awareness, understanding.
Together, we can make a difference to increase awareness, create reconciliation & promote understanding .
