Stricter laws on car thieves in California

Just last night my car a 1995 Honda Civic EX the only car my son and I had for transportation was stolen right out of my car port last night, I had to frantically call 911 to report it, it took a while for a officer although very nice showed up to take the report.  He proceeded to tell me four others were stolen at my complex as well last night all different makes an models one was just taken to rear of complex and the gps and stereo were stolen but, rest of car in tact, I was not so fortunate, I am a single mom, permanently disabled, that car was donated through a charity for domestic violence victims to be able to have a vehicle of their own and start their life over.  Some thief took it upon themselves to take this gracious gift for me to start over right out from under my son and I.  I feel violated, angry, upset, frantic, helpless, we now have no vehicle to do our laundry, grocery shop, run errands etc., I was trying to get low income housing and I will now miss my appt for the orientation, my vocational services orientation was scheduled for this wednesday to finish my last two classes to be a drug/alcohol counselor, now I can't attend that either.  My disabilited   care very seriousbasically ruined my life  , and this and has  devastated my son also to see his mother cry hysterically.  My whole life, goals have blown out the door because of this, grand Theft is a felony but they need to add more impact
