SUSTAINABLE POPULATION

FACTS:

-        Global overpopulation is causing a mass extinction of wildlife, a threat to our water supplies, devastating deforestation, and great human suffering.

*-     Our natural resources are being plundered at an alarming rate, and family planning programs are inadequate to achieve a sustainable population level.

-       All countries need a population policy as mandated by the United Nations in 1994.

ASSERTION:  We, the undersigned believe that:

-        Canada's foreign aid programs should make a full range of safe, affordable family planning services a priority.

-       Canada should develop a population policy based on a comprehensive carrying capacity study and a meaningful public consultation process.
