The military mutilates and kills more than 8,500 animals a year, you can help stop it.

There is a little-known program that leaves more than 8,500 animals mutilated or dead each year. And it is all being done with your tax dollars and in your name.

At US military bases all across the country, soldiers are forced to use live animals for trauma training exercise. Pigs and goats are shot, burned, stabbed or have their limbs broken in order to mimic wounds that could occur on the field.

This practice is not only barbaric, but it is unnecessary, especially given the fact that the Department of Defense recommended ending the program almost a decade ago. Additionally, new advances in science mean that we no longer need to use live animals in order to mimic human battlefield injuries.

The BEST Practices Act aims to put an end to this program once and for all. If passed the bill would ban the expensive and ineffective trauma drills on live animals while still ensuring that our military medics and others gain the skills they need to save lives on the battlefield.

Now is the time to act to make this bill a law. Sign the petition today and tell your representative you want them to support the BEST Practices Act. Together we can end this horrible program.
