It's unfortunate really. In the late 1960's and early 1970's the Stoneridge Homeowners' Association was a thriving and beautiful new community. Unfortunately, time has taken a toll on Stoneridge and this HOA is not what it once was. Despite efforts of a new board, that has in all fairness taken a huge amount of time to better this community, this HOA has come to a crossroads and should simply be dissolved. Having served as the VP of the Board of Directors for Stoneridge during 2016 and 2017, I have come to the conclusion that the best course of action is to dissolve the HOA. I recently resigned from the Board of Directors for personal reason and because I truly felt there was no good coming from our efforts to save the HOA. Now the best course of action is to dissolve.
The governing documents are far outdated, many of the codes and covenants aren't even legal anymore. Efforts to enforce anything in the HOA seems to be futile, and frankly there seems to be a lack of interest from homeowners and board members.
Dissolving an HOA is a huge task, something that no one wants to do, but it is now needed. The Stoneridge HOA needs to be dissolved. The property, assets and common ground should be sold off or divided up among homeowners or given to the city or a charity. All of that may be required to be decided by an attorney, but the one absolute is that the HOA needs to be dissolved.
Join me in petitioning the Stoneridge Board of Directors and the City of Arlington to take action and dissolve the Stoneridge Homeowners' Association and release all 600 homeowners of their obligation to the Stoneridge HOA governing documents. I need your help to make this happen. I cannot do this alone. There are 600 homes in the HOA, and we need over 75% to sign a petition and vote to dissolve. That means we need 450 votes in order to dissolve. Historically this HOA has about 50% active members, and on any given vote there are typically only around 25-60 votes cast. That means less than 10% of homeowners are taking any action for or against. That has to change with this petition. Spread the word. Let's make something happen.
