Calling On All Oscar Nominees To Stand Up For Inclusion Riders

During Francis McDormand's inspiring acceptance speech for best actress at the Oscars she called on Hollywood actors and actresses to commit to requesting inclusion riders for future projects.

According to NPR an inclusion rider is, "a stipulation that actors and actresses can ask (or demand) to have inserted into their contracts, which would require a certain level of diversity among a film's cast and crew".

If every actor and actress were willing to commit to this measure it could change the face of Hollywood forever.

Hollywood is a cultural touchstone for the world and if this initiative was embraced it would mean more people of color, more women, more people who identify as LGBTQ would be able to see themselves in movies, which could lead to a more inclusive world overall.

For this to work we need actors and actresses to lead the way, which is why I'm calling on all of the male and female Oscar nominees in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories to pledge to leverage inclusion riders in all future projects.

Please sign my petition urging Timothée Chalamet, Daniel Day-Lewis, Daniel Kaluuya, Gary Oldman, Denzel Washington, Sally Hawkins, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan and Meryl Streep to join Francis McDormand and pledge to include an inclusion rider on ever project they work on moving forward.
