Boeing Intentionally Polluted a River for Decades. Now It Doesn't Want to Pay to Clean It Up.

For decades, the multi-billion dollar aerospace company Boeing actively dumped toxic waste in a Seattle waterway - and planned it this way. In fact, in a 1950 internal magazine article, the company called the Duwamish River a "natural collector for Boeing's fluid wastes."

Now, the river is one of the most contaminated in the entire United States. But instead of taking responsibility as it should, the company is "negotiating" with local authorities over who is responsible for its clean up, including the city. And so far, all these negotiations have been conducted in secret.

What we do know so far, is that the costs of this cleanup project might exceed $1 billion, and that Boeing is trying its hardest not to pay. Why should taxpayers have to foot the bill for a corporation's reckless and toxic behavior?

Sign now to tell Boeing's CEO, Dave Calhoun, to make his billion-dollar company pay to clean up the Duwamish River!

In 2022 alone, Boeing generated over $66 billion in revenue. It is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world. There is absolutely no reason that a company so powerful should be able to get away with causing extreme environmental harm and take no responsibility.

To make matters worse, the Duwamish River is not only essential for local wildlife, it is also a key source of food, tradition, and culture for Indigenous people in the region. Boeing must take responsibility for this clear act of environmental injustice.

Boeing caused this literal mess. It is the company's responsibility to bear the consequences of its actions.

Currently, the company is in negotiations over how much money it should have to pay to support the clean up, which could cost $1 billion. The reality is, Boeing should be financially responsible for the entire project. Sign the petition now!
