Keep Virginia Beach the City of Yes! Preserve current laws for dogs on the beach!

We the undersigned citizens of Virginia Beach, believe that the all or nothing approach of the proposed 100% leash law all the time everywhere is unacceptable. Based on the data provided by the VB Police department, the number of incidents of dogs off leash on the beach is statistically insignificant. We ask instead that the City consider alternatives, such as posting the already approved "Petey's Rules" at the entrance to every residential beach and adopting the first paragraph of "Petey's Rules" into city code. We further ask that, if more is needed, the City create an Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee to identify problems, research policies and make recommendations for solutions tailored to our community more in keeping with Virginia Beach as a City of Yes!
