Petition for Intelligent Petitioning

I the undersigned hereby vow to undertake the necessary steps to create a coherent petition. I believe that a petition regarding something I care about should be presented in a manner that proves I do care, and am not simply killing time.

1. Before beginning, I will research the subject matter of my petition fully before committing anything to type. Above all else, I will have my facts straight.

2. I will make use of grammar and spell check programs, and possibly a thesaurus, in composing my petition so as to add to its legibility. I will present my petition in simple, easily comprehended terms so as to avoid possible confusion.

3. From my research, I will choose my cited works with care, double checking them for validity. I will not misrepresent my facts and I promise I shall not misuse these facts by intentionally taking them out of context so as to sensationalize the content of my petition.

4. I vow that everything in my petition will be correct and true, to the best of my knowledge. I further provide assurance that my written language skills will be presented to the public to the best of my ability.

5. I will not use idiot tactics such as presenting my petition in shouts (all caps), staggered caps, street-, geek-, or l33t-speak. Instead, I will allow my petition and the cause it supports to speak for itself.

6. Upon completion of my petition, I will double-, and possibly triple-check my work for errors, omissions, and questionable content. I want my petition to succeed, and therefore am willing to take the extra time to ensure that success from its inception.
