Tell ICE Not to Separate This Family

What they were told would be a routine interview session with immigration turned into a nightmare.

Paul Frames and his husband Jose Ivan Nuñez went into a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in Philadelphia together, but only one came out a free man. Midway through the interview, the interviewer stopped and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents entered the room and arrested him.

Now Jose Ivan faces deportation to Mexico, if that happens he could face persecution just for being gay. In fact, the USCIS granted him a "Reasonable Fear Interview" a special interview provided for those who might face serious threats of harm if they are to return to their home country. So why are they threatening to send him back if they recognize that he might be in danger?

Mr. Nuñez has called the US home for more than 15 years, he has a husband who loves him and he now faces an "Order of Expedited Removal" that could strip him from his loved ones and send him back to a place where he could face violence.

Please join Care2 and ask ICE to release Jose Ivan and grant him a "Withholding of Removal" — a status similar to asylum — that will allow him to stay in America with his husband.
