ACT NOW: Tell Canada to ban exports of Cancer causing Asbestos!

  • al: James Macgregor
  • destinatario: Prime Minister of Canada - Stephen Harper
Crystalline Asbestos fibres have long been used for insulation in homes and commercial buildings. However, Asbestos has been found to lead to serious health ailments - most notably Mesothelioma (a cancer affecting the membrane of the lungs and abdomen).

Alternatives are now available without adverse effects.  One of the most common alternatives is Cellulose Fibres - made from recycled newsprint.

Canada is one of only a handful of countries who have
been unwilling to - under the Rotterdam Convention - ban
the use of Asbestos or the exporting of these toxic fibres.

Their reasoning - it's cheaper than the alternatives.

Please act now and sign the petition to urge government to
pursue these alternatives. Tell Canada's government that economic savings should NOT come at the expense of human health - domestic or abroad.

Thank you.
