Stop scam modelling agencies from targeting vulnerable people!

Teaching assistant Tracy Baker was grieving after the sudden loss of her beloved dad when she saw an advert for The Studio Collective. Her dad had wanted her to give modelling a go, so she got in touch. The Studio Collective pressurised her to hand over nearly £2000 for some poor quality photos. She then realised, as a middle-aged woman without conventional 'model looks', she was no closer to getting any modelling work. She had been ripped off.

Businesses like The Studio Collective are exploiting vulnerable people by charging them hugely inflated sums for photoshoots, and misleading them about their chances of a modelling career. Please sign this petition to demand that BEIS (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) and the Inspectorate investigate these ''modelling platforms''.

Another Studio Collective victim, a recent teenage immigrant struggling to support her family, was also pressurised to part with thousands of pounds. Her family were told that if fees weren't paid on the spot her photos would be destroyed. Her dad panicked and paid. She didn't find any modelling work and discovered she was too short for most modelling gigs. Her family are struggling to pay off the fees by working extra factory shifts.

Modelling agencies are not allowed to charge upfront fees, and clients must be given a 30-day cooling off period before buying shots. "Modelling platforms" are ducking the legislation simply through renaming themselves. Please sign this petition to demand that the Inspectorate and BEIS (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) will investigate The Studio Collective and any other ''modelling platforms'' that are reported for misconduct - and apply modelling agency legislation to any business operating as a modelling agency.

BEIS and The Inspectorate:

''Modelling platforms'' are avoiding modelling agency legislation simply because of how they label themselves. This is leaving vulnerable clients prone to exploitation.

Complaints are not being properly investigated and acted upon. It's time to take these scams seriously and investigate them, regardless of the label the company applies to itself.
