Reconsider Decision to Shoot Sea Lions

U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg in Washington, D.C., ruled that up to 30 California sea lions can be killed for eating endangered salmon bottled up at a dam on the Columbia River.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency decided that sea lions were eating 4.2% of salmon and that it was a signifigant obstacle in restoring the salmon. However, fishermen are allowed to take up to 17%.

We ask that the judge reconsider this ruling and drop the number of salmon that fishermen are allowed to take rather than killing sea lions to protect salmon.
