Quit Choking Marine Life With Littered Cigarettes

4.5 trillion cigarette stubs are littered every year. Just one cigarette butt alone can pollute between up to 8 litres of water. Worse, they are not biodegradable and take years to break down. Cigarettes aren't just toxic for humans, but for animals too.

There are smoking bans in other public spaces — so why not beaches?

Litter is on the rise in England, killing animals and harming the environment. 41 million pieces of marine litter kill one million sea birds and 100,000 marine mammals each year.

If you support taking a step closer to saving animals' lives, then please sign the petition calling on the British government to enact and enforce a ban on smoking on beaches. We need to work together to clean up and make sure that trash doesn't end up in the ocean, especially cigarette butts.
