Change the U.S. Voting System

Our voting system is extremely undemocratic. The primary elections give weight to the voters of some states more than others. Many candidates have dropped out of the current election cycle before large coastal states have even had a chance to exercise their right to vote. The electoral college system allows the loser of the popular vote (remember George W. Bush) to still become president. Every citizens vote should be given equal weight. A Congressional committee should study alternative voting systems, and vote on a system that honors the premise that all citizens' votes should have equal weight. Voting should occur on the same day, preferably on a weekend to allow greater voter participation, throughout the nation.
