Support Aukea's dream of engaging Native youth in traditional food production.

All over the United States, Native American youth are working to promote entrepreneurship in their communities. In Kapaau, HI Aukea Ka'aekuahiwi (Native Hawaiian), just 16 years old, dreams of bringing traditional foods to his community and engaging youth in traditional food production.

"Our ancestors used to live 100% off the land every day. So that's how we know we can achieve our goal of being 50% sustainable because our ancestors have done it for hundreds of years." Aukea's program will also teach youth in his community the ancestral methods of meat preservation, thereby making his business infrastructure accessible to youth who have similar interests in animal husbandry while also supplying Kohala with traditional foods.

As a Running Strong "Dreamstarter," Aukea is one of 10 remarkable Native American young people who dream of promoting entrepreneurship in their communities. We can help make his dreams come true.
