'The Predator' Director Shane Black Knowingly Cast Sex Offender. He Should Not Be Rewarded With Another Film.

The new Predator reboot was supposed to be a fun, action-filled remake. But when lead actress Olivia Munn discovered that she had unknowingly acted in a brief scene with a registered sex offender, she immediately called 20th Century Fox to request that the scene be deleted.

The actor featured, Steven Wilder Striegel, pleaded guilty in 2010 to two felony sex crimes against a 14-year minor. He only served a 6-month jail sentence but was placed on the sex offender registry.

Shockingly, the film's director, Shane Black, knew of Streigal's conviction and history of sexual misconduct — but chose to hire him anyway without alerting Munn, any other actors, or crew because he said he "personally chose to help a friend."

This is unconscionable. By hiring a convicted sex offender in secret, Shane Black put his entire cast and crew at risk.

Shane Black should not be allowed to shrug-off this dangerous behavior and move on to his next film like nothing happened. He's currently signed on to direct DC Entertainment's upcoming "Doc Savage" action hero movie, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Please sign and share our petition calling on DC Entertainment and Dwayne Johnson to hold Shane Black accountable and drop him as the director for the upcoming "Doc Savage" film.

When men like Shane Black ignore, enable, or diminish the serious effects of sexual assault and harassment, it makes it even more difficult for other survivors to come forward. The National Sexual Violence Resource Centers cites that sexual assault is the most underreported crime in America — and only 12% of child sexual abuse is ever reported to the authorities.

This is why we can't brush-off Shane Black's behavior as easily as he has. When women like Olivia Munn call out sexual abuse or misconduct — men need to listen. They need to STOP defending abusers or minimizing the damaging acts of sexual harassment or assault that were committed.

Don't reward Shane Black for supporting a sex offender and putting his cast at risk! Make sure DC Entertainment and The Rock drop him from their upcoming Doc Savage film.

In a powerful statement, the survivor (who was a minor at the time) has come forward and publicly thanked Olivia Munn for speaking out, saying "I was not able to speak for myself when I was 14. The consequences of this abuse are profound and permanent for some. … Your abuse does not define you." You can read more here: https://usat.ly/2xeXZqp
