Downtown Richmond, Indiana welcomes visitors and locals with repeated signs on Main Street which read:
"NO DOGS BIKES SKATES SKATEBOARDING".
These signs mislead. Bicycles are allowed on the streets downtown. It is not necessary to post that bicycles cannot ride on sidewalks for that law to be enforcable.
The signs are counter to our comprehensive plans which instructs us to promote human-powered transportation. The signs are counter to our Wayne County motto "We Say Yes!". The signs are counter to a warm, welcoming downtown.
We, the undersigned, believe the NO signs need to GO.
